One of the most underrated yet crucial choices we can make to improve or maintain our health and energy is PHYSICAL ACTIVITY.
Most chronic health conditions do not prevent a person from exercising even if it is modified form of exercise. The benefits of exercise are amazing when they are done consistently and effectively. In my experience as a trainer, many folks are in and out of consistency with their own exercise program. It is re-ported that over 50% of gym members stop going after six months. People may even hire a trainer and loose weight initially but loose their momentum due to a variety of distractions or loss of resources. Training for marathons, triathlons, and walking events for fund raising events can be a real motivator for others. However, the time, energy, and commitment required does not create adherence to recommended activities on a daily basis year round for most people. There are five areas of physical activity that I recommend for a balanced exercise program which are designed to prolong our quality of life. As we age it becomes even more crucial that we do these types of exercises. Our exercise programs should ideally involve endurance, balance, strength, flexibility, and internal jogging.
